How to Write Keyword Rich Articles That People Will Read
57Link Building for Articles
More than any other time in recorded history, internet hyperlinks are at peak demand in the marketing world. I would have to write a book in order to detail every reason that writing good content articles with appropriate linking is so important. Until I have the time to do so, please enjoy these free tips and tactics to producing high quality, and result oriented content for your internet articles.
Produce Valuable Information
If you gain nothing else from this article, remember this – if your article does not provide valuable information - nobody will read it. It’s that simple. People are busier than ever, they don’t have time to waste on a keyword polluted sales pitch. If you don’t provide immediate interest with a grabbing topic, and then follow through with informative advice, smart consumers will quickly dismiss you as spam and move on to better content.
Blogs are great resources
Producing valuable content is easy but does require careful analyzing of the product or service you are trying to promote. Scanning the top blog articles related to your product is one of the best ways to brainstorm for a good topic for your article. Simply go to Google, enter your preferred keywords and then use the MORE pull-down menu to select Blogs.
Once Google produces the results, just read what the current buzz is in your business niche blogsphere. Most writers have their own area of expertise, so try and combine different idea’s with what you already excel at, this will provide the kind of content that people want to read, bookmark, and come back to reference often!
Use a Professional Linking Strategy
Producing a good linking strategy boils down to understanding the Graph Structure in the Web. Okay, so it's a bit complex, to simplify the idea it is easier to consider the accompanying "Bow-Tie" theory, developed by AltaVista, IBM Almaden Research Center, and Compaq Systems Research Center. Basically, you have to understand how linking and search engine spiders work in order to produce the best quality linking for your articles.
Understanding Spiders
When you think of spiders (the real ones) and their webs, each one has a center that extends out. Without a strong center, the rest of the web is weak, but without strong inbound and outbound connections, the core alone is useless to the spider. This is much like the “Bow-Tie Theory” of the internet web, which is broken into four very strategic pieces.
the core (about 30%) sites that share links and traffic
origination sites (about 20%) direct people into the core
termination sites (about 20%) links from the core but few back in
isolated sites (about 30%) few links and little traffic
Your goal when producing website content should always be to become part of the core, and then to strategically build by creating multiple inbound and outbound links. This is not an easy task to say the least, but with practice and patience, you'll get the hang of it eventually!
Finding Valuable Outbound Links
Now that you have spider-basics out of the way, I hope you have a better understanding of the importance of superior content. The next task at hand is to get out there and link to informative articles that will strengthen your core value. This doesn't take a degree in rocket science - you wouldn't be reading this article if you weren't interested in writing one, and you can't write one if you haven't read one - SO READ. Finding valuable outbound links is as easy as researching your own article.
For example, this article is about How to Write Good Content, so the first step is to study your niche (in this case, writing good content). Let me tell you, there are some brilliant people out there that offer all kinds of fascinating information on just about any topic you care to write an article about. A simple search on your topic will provide a googolplex of news reports, blog posts, how-to articles, charts, graphs - you name it, Google knows it! Not only is this strategy educational to you, it also provides your readers with much more information than you could possibly provide yourself. The general idea is to link to informative articles, and encourage other informative articles to link back to you.
Consider this graph produced by Stanford University detailing How People Use the Internet. What do users do on the Internet? The number one spot goes to email, that's a given, but it's the number two spot that proves why content linking is so important, people want valuable information and they don't want to spend their entire life-time trying to find it! If you have produced an informative article, it just makes sense to provide as much information as possible to the people looking for it. If you found the information helpful, than the odds are that other people will too!
Asking for Inbound Links
If you refer back to the Bow-Tie Theory, you remember that the core requires both inbound and outbound links in order to develop the best linking strategy. The absolute best resource to utilize for internet linking is Linking Matters, developed by Ken McGaffin.
I won't reintroduce the wheel here, but this informative website covers everything you ever wanted to know about Link Building. If you want to learn how to get links, they offer the best information and resources available. To get the most out of this website start by downloading their Linking Matters Report and the be sure to download the 18-page workbook that guides you through the process of creating your own linking strategy, step-by-step.
After completing the workshop listed above, you should have a comprehensive list of strong niche targets for inbound links, their comprehensive report recommends sending a brief link request that includes:
• A named contact • The address of the page that you would like a link from • A summary of how this will benefit their website • Some simple linking code • A request to get in touch
Avoid Common Linking Mistakes (Last but never least)
Quality Always Wins over Quantity
One very important thing to remember is not to overload your readers with too much information. It is very easy to go a little link-happy while writing internet content. Don't try and link to every website that has content related to your topic. The bottom line is that some content simply isn't worth sharing. Don't waste your readers time by linking to articles just for the sake of linking. Put your time and energy into researching quality information that will be the most useful to them and always make sure it is relevent to your own topic.
Update, Add, and Tweak it Out
Don't ever use the word finished, because an active content article never should be. The information highway is constantly under construction and your once popular article can quickly become lost at sea with out-of-date information and dead-end links. Review your articles frequently, check the links, and continue adding new information to your outbound link banks. This will always keep your content fresh and moving.
Search Engine Optimization
Google the term "search engine optimization," and you'll find more than 7 million results. It is a major industry and there are countless marketing sites and software applications that will guarantee you immediate results. Don't allow search engine manipulation marketers to manipulate you. It is always best to follow the old adage "If you want to do something right - do it yourself". Google may claim to use complicated algorithms, and even though everyone claims to have all the answers; no software program or get-rich-quick scheme will ever be able to duplicate the intellegence locked within your own mind!
Summary and Recommendations
These are simply the basics steps to get you started writing quality website content that produce the greatest results, regardless of your business niche. As I mentioned before, it would take a book to list them all - and there are many out there that claim to have all the answers. My best advice and recommendation is always to do your own research. Don't just trust one book, advice article, or highly acclaimed SEO website, read them all! Research and understand what you want to write about and then market that well-used time to produce informative articles developed with your own unique and personalized linking strategies. You are the only guaranteed path to your own success!

No you don't have to write an entire book to give people a quick guide to content writing. Your piece here is helpful aplenty. The linking strategy you've covered is a good one. I've always thought that linking activities, along with other SEO strategies, are a good way to draw traffic to one's site.
